FOM Legacy Series National Championship

Saturday July 28, 2007
We have not traveled in a while due to the heat and not many large tournaments going on this summer. We drove over 5 hours to get to the 1st Fishers of Men Legacy National Tournament on Lake Pickwick in Florence, Alabama. The Legacy Series is an adult/junior series in 21 states. It was a great experience to see children dressed in their best fishing shirts at 4am with their eyes barely open, excited about fishing with their dad, grandfather, uncle, friend, etc., and talking about bass fishing like they were little old men. There were boys and girls from 6 years old to 18 years old and it was a couple of HOT days in Alabama! Fishers of Men had catered to the kids by placing decoy ducks around the lake for the kids to find and win a prize. They also had a rat trap game for the kids to cast out a spinnerbait and try to win a prize.

At the end of the tournament, new InteractiveAngler.com member, Keith Amerson and daughter Kelcey Amerson took home the Triton TR-186 with a 150HP Mercury Optimax motor. Their first day weight was 17.89 pounds and their second day weight was 19.94 pounds with a big bass that weighed 5.49 pounds. Their two day total was 37.83 pounds.

We signed up a lot of new members at this event, so go check them out! They are from Alabama to Maryland!
