The Gut Check program was developed in 1989 to instill leadership and discipline to middle school males. Done so in a structured yet high-energy environment, the program utilizes principles such teamwork, communication, motivation, and humility through physical participation. The program is held during the summer months at North Georgia College, where the participants are housed for the duration. Beginning on a Thursday evening and concluding with a graduation ceremony on Sunday afternoon, the students participate in many activities including a ropes course, obstacle course, and rappelling at Mount Yonah. Besides the activities, the participants will hear from a variety of speakers such as coaches, military personnel, and law enforcement personnel who can give encouragement, guidance, and in some cases a much needed insight to life. |
